It seems like we are always trying keep up to date with the latest products, trends and tips to stay young and look beautiful. The abundance of choices we have as consumers can leave us feeling overwhelmed and that is why I like to keep my routine simple all year round. Not forgetting that the skin is the largest organ of our body, it makes sense that it will require extra care and attention.
As a skin clinician, I have a deep understanding about the body and the science behind skin. I am constantly intrigued by new products and ingredients on the market that can compliment my current routine.
Every time someone asks me about my anti-aging tips and secrets I always share my three-step skincare system for both my face and body using different products on different targeted areas. These easy-to-follow tips can be easily adopted into your daily routine for healthy and glowing skin all year round!
Using either cleansers and/or exfoliators is a crucial step for flawless skin as the removal of bacteria, make up and dirt gives the skin its best chance to absorb all the key ingredients as well as brighter and smoother texture. As the thickness and texture of our skin is different on different areas, using cleansing products designed for the face on the face and opting for body scrubs for body exfoliation will give you the best results.
TIP: Skin cells have an average life cycle of 28 days so exfoliating at least once a week will enhance the renewal cycle for a more balanced and radiant complexion. Choose an exfoliator that is suitable for your skin type and area of concern and incorporating this in your cleansing routine at least once a week for the face and once or twice a week for the body. It’s also best to use a rinse off formula that doesn’t leave a film on the skin so there is no interference with your treatment product.
Now that your skin is clean, the next focus is feeding it with nutritious ingredients for hydration and nourishment and/or applying targeted treatment products to address any skin issues. As the seasons change, my choices for skincare products for the face also changes. I like to apply my serums and treatment products on a clean skin and lock these active ingredients by using a moisturiser over it. Many freezeframe products are treatments and moisturisers in one so they aren’t just great value – they save time too!
TIP: Different focus for different season – In winter, I tend to focus on hydration and nourishment and opt for oils before a moisturiser for both my face and body. Adding a weekly mask after exfoliation will give your skin an intensified moisture boost. In hotter seasons, I add in serums and treatment products to address unwanted pigmentation as it can worsen during summer due to increased sun exposure.
FACE – freezeframe ROSEHIP PRO clinicalsuper oil for face and neck with freezeframe NIGHT on top as well as the COLLAGENESIS O2 MASK used bi-weekly
BODY – FAT BURNER dry body oil used daily after shower
I am an avid sunscreen user for many years which allows me to still enjoy all my favourite outdoor activities. Using sunscreens for both the face and body during summer can help to prevent sunburn as well as future pigmentation problems. Opt for sunscreens that are designed for the face only as these are usually lighter in consistency.
There are also some powerful actives which protect skin from all sorts of damage from oxidation, free radicals, uv & pollution. Pollution is thought to be the greatest ager of our time. freezeframe’s ROSEHIP PRO is so powerful it provides uv, antioxidant, free radical & a massive 99.3% protection against pollution.
TIP: Oil protection goes first as it needs to work directly on the skin surface. You can then apply sunscreen on top of your moisturiser and before your foundation for sun protection or mix it with your foundation. When it comes to choosing the best sunscreen product for your face and body, texture and consistency are always the main things to look out for!
